Home cooking by the emerald Soča

Soča trout, frika, Bovec krafi and Kobarid štruklji. We cook from our nona's recipes with what grows in the valley, and serve it all on a terrace right above the river.

Our story

Three generations by the footbridge over the Soča

In 1962 Nona Marija started cooking for woodcutters and hikers in the house by the footbridge. Today her grandson Luka runs the kitchen and Ana welcomes the guests. We cook simply and with the seasons: the trout arrives in the morning, the cheese comes from the mountain pastures, and we pick the porcini ourselves. Whatever isn't from our valley comes from the next one.

Trout from the valley

It comes every morning from a nearby trout farm. We fry it whole in butter or smoke it ourselves.

Cheese from the mountain pastures

Tolminc from cow's milk and Bovec cheese from sheep's milk, made by cheesemakers on the pastures above the valley.

Wines from Brda and Vipava

Rebula and merlot from Brda, zelen and pinela from the Vipava Valley. Our house wine is also served by the glass.

Seasonal menus

Our two menus

Both menus change with the seasons. Every day we also cook à la carte dishes, written on the board by the door.
